January 2009: Hopeful Signs

In December, agents for the developers Pegasus submitted two section 73 applications, to remove the requirements to light Quakers Walk and lock the gates open. This is very encouraging, though it is possible that the Regulatory Committee may reject the applications.

The deadline for commenting on these applications has passed - the Christmas holidays effectively halved the consultation period - but another recent application, E/09/0003/REM deals with the reserved matters, including the new changes. One disturbing aspect of the plan is the proposal to dig up Quakers Walk to lay a foul sewer, which will cross the canal and connect to the main sewer at New Park Street.

You can view the new application by going to the Kennet planning web site and entering "E/09/0003/REM" in the search box, click on the "Application Number" and then click on "View Plans and Documents". The details of the sewage plan are in document E090003REM_DRS.PDF, various documents mention the section 73 applications.

Please send your comments to Kennet Council Development Control before the 29th January deadline.
